Privacy Policy Reflection

After analyzing the cPanel and Boomerang privacy policies, I realized that they do not really tell you what is going on.  Many phrases are worded using technological jargin that most people do not understand, and other privacy aspects are difficult to opt out of.  CPanel specifically has a pretty straight forward policy, and gives you the option to opt-in or opt-out of certain aspects to protect your information.  They also make sure to tell you that the information they take is purely for improvement purposes. Their information gathering is limited to error reports, server configuration and server usage logs.  Boomerang on the other hand, gathers all of the users’ data, and even the data of people who are in contact with them, and who are not aware.  Before reviewing these two policies, I had never read a whole privacy policy prior to signing up for something online.  Although cPanel seems somewhat trustworthy, other companies such as Boomerrang could be currently gathering a plethora of information on me, and I even gave them my permission.  After this experience, I plan on reading privacy policies before I mindlessly tick the “I Agree” box.
